Spain
Road Rules
- Vehicles drive on the right hand side of the road
- Motorists must give way to traffic from the left, particularly, at roundabouts
- If there is a solid line in the road, motorists must not change lanes or cross the line
- Motorists flashing other vehicles mean to let them pass – not that they are encouraging other motorists to pull out
- All vehicles must carry a reflective safety-vest. The vest can be either yellow or orange, as long as it is officially certified. Drivers are required to wear the vest any time they have to stop on the shoulder of the road and get out of their vehicle. It should be kept in the passenger cabin of the vehicle – not the boot – so that it can be put on prior to the occupant of the car getting out and stepping onto the road
- The law operating in Spain regarding the use of indicators on motorways is being strictly enforced. You will risk being fined for not indicating before overtaking and again before pulling back to the nearside lane after overtaking
- Ensure you do not cross the solid white line as you enter the motorway from a slip road, but wait until the line is broken
- It is compulsory to carry a spare pair of spectacles if you wear them for driving
