Alcohol Limit
  • Laws against driving under the influence of alcohol are strict and follow a policy of zero tolerance
Road Tolls
  • Tolls are charged on the main route E59 and the E70 out of Zagreb and E71 from Zagreb to Split
  • Tolls are also charged on selected motorways, bridges and tunnels
Use of Mobile Phone Whilst Driving
  • It is illegal to use a hand held mobile phone when driving
On the Spot Fines
  • Police are empowered to collect fines on the spot for motoring and traffic offences
  • Motorists should always collect a receipt from the issuing officer
Seat Belts
  • The use of seat belts is compulsory for front and rear seated passengers if fitted
  • Children must be at least 12 years of age to sit in the front seat
Traffic Light Regulations
  • Red – Stop
  • Amber – Slow Down
  • Green – Go
Rush Hour in Built Up Areas
  • In Zagreb and Split: 0700 – 0800hrs and 1500 -1600hrs
Fuel Stations
  • Most stations are open from 0600 - 2000hrs, but some along major roads stay open 24hrs
  • Credit cards are generally accepted in major fuel stations
  • Leaded super has an octane rating of 98; unleaded super, or bezolovni benzin 95
Parking Advice
  • In all major cities there are parking zones and tolls apply accordingly
