Road Safety Initiatives
- In 2003, the Italian Government introduced a driving licence scores system
- Each violation of the country’s driving rules is penalised by deducting a single driver licence point from their allowance
- In 2004 the Italian Government promoted a safety initiative named “7 April: one day without death on the roads? I will try”. This initiative was designed to heighten awareness amongst Italian drivers of the high incidence of road accidents
